Hi! I’m Vina Oca, from Manila, Philippines.
I started practicing yoga around 2007, initially as a physical activity. I danced ballet since I was a kid up till college, but didn’t get to pursue it. Yoga was not that popular at that time, especially where I was from, and there wasn’t any other activity I connected with, as much as dancing did.
My first yoga practice was with Bikram yoga and it was love at first try. It wasn’t after 7 years that I began exploring other forms and eventually got hooked with Vinyasa, as it was the closest thing to dancing.
I started getting serious with my vinyasa practice around 3 years ago, and in 2017, I decided to take the plunge and enrolled in a 200-hour vinyasa yoga teacher training program at Yoga Plus.
I believe that my dance background and consistent yoga practice for almost a decade now have provided me enough experience especially in terms of alignment and kinesthetic awareness, which I hope to share with you.
But beyond the physical aspect, I would like to share how yoga has made me a better person in terms of relationships – relationship with myself, with others, with the space I move around in, with the environment, with work, with everything.
I found myself in yoga, and for that, I will always be grateful. I wish the same for all of you.
